16.12.2014 Gdańsk The role of Visegrad Group in the modern world RODM Gdańsk

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the importance  of the Visegrad Group (V4) on the matters relevant to the European Union and the future of the entire region.

Among the invited guests were:

  • Andrzej Osiak – Head of Central-European Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
  • Jakub Groszkowski – Center for Eastern Studies,
  • Łukasz Lewkowicz -  political scientist, Maria Curie –Skłodowska University.

The panelists were unanimous that in Central Europe is a division between countries. Part of states want to strengthen the eastern border of NATO and deter aggressive actions of Moscow. Other Member States may support a range of activities, but the same time opening them to condemn, fearing an increase in tension between the EU, NATO and Russia.
