"ZŁOTA 9" ACADEMY

The project is based on the contact with Masters, meetings with eminent figures in culture, science and politics. We would like these people to share their experience of life and service to their country. The important element is to unleash the creative abilities of each participant. We want to achieve this mainly through workshops, whose function is to pass on skills and inspire creative thinking about important matters.

We want our school not only to teach the techniques and skills, but also to convey and strengthen values. We want to build a community based on friendship and trust, a group that can both support and inspire.
The first edition of the Academy was begun in January 2006. Meetings take place every second Saturday. The form of the meeting is always the same - discussion with a guest followed by thematic workshops. After each meeting the young get an assignment to do at home - read an article, prepare a paper, watch a movie, hold a questionnaire or conduct an interview.

Moreover, by the end of the first term we plan to start different thematic groups concerned with media, history, our local area, art., internet and chronicles.

The meetings take place in Friars Dominican's Closter in Lublin at Złota Street 9, hence the name of the Academy. The outside sessions are held in European Meeting Centre in Nasuttw close to Lublin.

The current auditors of the Academy include 70 people from different municipalities and counties of the Lublin Voivodeship, including Zamość, Puławy, Chełm, Łęczna, Hrubieszów, Skierbieszów, Niemce, Nasutów, Bełżce, Poniatowa, Lubartów and Lublin.

The initiative faced a huge interest of the media and each of the meetings is followed by a wide response in the press, radio and television.
