16.09.2011/Lublin "Volunteering across the borders" project finished. European Centre of Youth Co-operation

Between 4th - 14th September European Meeting Centre in Nasutow hosted Polish minor community youth from the east, participating in Poland withing "Volunteering across the borders" project. 36 young representatives of Polish schools, institutions and associations from Belarus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Russia participated in this event. It is for the third time when European Meeting Centre - Nowy Staw Foundation organizes such an event.

The project started on 4th September with arrivals of our guests. Integration session and presentation of the aims and program of the project took place in the evening.
On the 5th September participants took part in two very interesting appointments. First of them was with dr Krzysztof Żuk - the Major of Lublin. The meeting concerned topics such as Lublin’s cooperation with eastern countries and partner cities. Vice Major - Mrs Monika Lipińska, who was answering questions regarding social policy and volunteering and Mrs Joanna Szeląg - Head of International Cooperation Department also participated in the meeting.

The second meeting was a conference combined with  sharing good practices in frame of voluntary work. For the meeting we invited representatives of Lublin’s NGOs.

During the meeting our guests presented activities realized by their organizations in the field of cooperation with volunteers as well as presented what opportunities volunteers are given in them. In the end small debate was organized. The subject was: Should volunteer be given any gratification for their work.

On the 6th September participants went to Nowy Sącz to take part In 6th Economic Forum of Young Leaders. More about Forum: www.forum-leaders.eu

After the Forum they went to Krakow to do the sightseeing and get to know more abort the history of his former capital of Poland.

In the third part of the project, participants met with students from IV High School from Lublin. They work together in three groups:

1) Voluntary work
2) Traditions In our countries
3) Language animation

The big volleyball match between STUDENTS and POLONIA ended the meeting in the school.

On the last day participants had a chance to explore more Lublin.
