We have pleasure to inform that the Chapter of the European Citizen’s Prize of the European Parliament granted the European Citizen’s Prize to Mr Tomasz Różniak, President of the European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation. The award had been granted due to the application of Prof. Zbigniew Zaleski Ph.D., a deputy of the European Parliament.
Except the President of the European Parliament, Hans- Gert Pöttering, there are the following members of the European Citizen’s Prize Chapter: four current vice-presidents of the European Parliament- Alejo Vidal Quadras, Gerard Onesta, Mechtild Rother, Diana Wallis; 3 former vice-presidents of the European Parliament - Nicole Fontanie, Pat Cox i Josep Borrell, and Nina Norgaard, former president of the European Net for Education.
The European Citizen’s Prize is granted to people and institutions, whose activity outstandingly support the promotion of larger mutual comprehension and the widening of the EU citizens’ integration, and finally support the transnational cooperation inside the European Union. Only the European representatives have the right to nominate the candidates.
In the first edition of the European Citizen’s Prize there were 37 prize winners from the countries of the European Union granted by the Chapter of the European Citizen’s Prize and its President, Hans- Gert Pöttering in the 2 day of April, 2009.
Except Tomasz Różniak there are few other European Citizen’s Prize winners who come from Poland as well: Polska Akcja Humanitrana (Polish Humanitary Action) and East Europe Council of Jan Nowak-Jeziorański from Wroclav.

A graduate of Social Science Faculty at Catholic University of John Paul II in Lublin. A scholar of Catholic Social Institute in Germany and of US State Department as well.. A councilor of Regional Parliament of Lublin Region 1998-2002. The first initiator of polish-german youth cooperation in the eighties in Lublin Region. President of Organization Committee of Economic Forum of Young Leaders in Nowy Sącz. Vice-president of the Board of Directors of Eastern Study Institute Foundation – the main organizer of Economic Forum in Krynica Górska. Besides, Tomasz Różniak is a founder of European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation – non-governmental organization whose overall goal is promoting the citizen’s society idea, cooperation, comprehension and solidarity between the nations. Since 2002 Tomasz Różniak is a President of Board of Directors in the European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation.
European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation is Pro Publico Bono Prize winner in “Social Diplomacy” category. The main activities of the European Meeting Center – Nowy Staw Foundation are: Economic Forum of Young Leaders, Zlota 9 Academy, Christian Social Week (Tomasz Różniak is the President of Program Body), Labour Market Institute, Centre of Citizen’s Media, European Information and European Centre of youth Cooperation.
