Conference "Opportunities and Challenges of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union "

We invite you to the conference "Opportunities and Challenges of the Polish Presidency in the Council of the European Union. " The conference will be held on 13 April 2011 at the Auditorium of the Institute of European Studies at the Catholic University of Lublin from 10.00 - 15.00.
The conference will be devoted to the legal aspects of the Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union, Eastern Partnership in the context of the priorities of the Presidency and cultural opening of Lublin to the east.
The conference brings together representatives from academia, local government and representatives of NGOs from the region of Lublin.

Bilgoraj Regional Development Agency

On 13th of April summary conference of project „Together – social economy initiatives” will take place at the Bilgoraj Regional Development Agency.
During the conference summary of the project, as well as presentation of its economical and social benefits result from social economy will be done.
Project „Together – social economy initiatives” was directed to unemployed people from Lubelskie Voivodeship who were also beneficiaries of social assistance and to workers of labour market institutions and institutions of social assistance. The main goal of the project was to improve their skills and knowledge in social economy area and encourage them to cooperate in their local society and to set up their own initiatives.
The goal was realized by the trainings about social economy and meetings about local partnership. There was also individual and group counseling about law and accounting for new established local initiatives.

Europe Direct Lublin
"Be enterprising"- possibilities of gaining European funds for business
Europe Direct – Lublin Information Point organized a training for students of last courses, graduates as well as unemployed people about how to start up a business and how to get money from EU for this purpose.
At the beginning we planned to make only one training for a group of 25 persons, but the amount of received registration forms showed us, that at the moment the need of training on this topic is enormous. For this reason we made a second round of the training and we trained more than 60 persons in total.
The training consisted on principles of starting up a business, presentation of possibilities of gaining European funds for this purpose (i.a. Regional Operational Programme of Lubelskie Region, Operational Programme Human Capital), presentation of timetable of calls of proposals, application forms and presentation of best practices. After the training each participant had the possibility to consult directly with the trainer, specialist on the field of European funds.

Polish-German Youth Cooperation
The economic situation in Poland and Germany
The polish-german project will take place in Flecken-Zechlin (near Berlin) between 3rd and 9th April. This project concerns the economic situation in Poland and Germany.
This project is the common initiative of Europejski Dom Spotkań- Fundacja Nowy Staw in Lublin and the organisation DGB Jugendbildungsstaette in Flecken-Zechlin.
The main aims of the project are: the comparison of the economic situation in Poland and in Germany, as well as to interest young people with economic subject matter.

RCIE Lublin
Interactive knowledge contest about Presidency
In April we will launch an interactive contest of knowledge about the Presidency.
The competition is directed for high school students from the schools of Lublin Province. Students will be able to participate in the contest on the website www.prezydencja2011.org .
Each of the participants will fill single choice test consisting of 15 questions with the same degree of difficulty. The scope of the test will cover the following topics: the Presidency, the Council of the European Union, the Polish Presidency priorities, as well as a very general knowledge of the European Union.
Winners will be chosen by the Jury with will consist of representatives of the Regional Centre of European Information, Europe Direct – Lublin and the education office in Lublin.

Completion of the vocational courses
Four of the groups from the project Working graduate have already finished their vocational workshops. Currently all of the participants of the project are actively looking for a possible place to complete their 3-month internship in.
On 5 April the last workshop for the Marketing group was held. Participants from the Accounting, European project management, Computer graphics and creating websites, and Office administration groups have received their certificates of completion of a course and increasing their qualifications.
Employers are notifying our offices of their interest in hiring interns. In this way we are able to help participants having trouble finding an internship on their own. .

Labour Market Institute
Completed training of counseling and prevention under the project
"Young career in your hands "

According to the timetable in March completed the next phase of the project "Career of young people in your hands". Thus came to an end training on prevention and counseling at both levels.
Teachers participating in the project balanced the knowledge that will help in their work. A preliminary evaluation confirms that trainers and the project managers have received very high ratings from participants.
To realize remains the training on the use of IT tools in teaching. We also plan to organize a summary seminar for the participants that will be held on 28 April 2011 at the Hotel Dall in Kielce.

The European Centre of Youth Co-operation
Project of Partnership Building Activity took place in Nasutow!
The project took place in Nasutów near Lublin between 21st and 26thMarch 2011.
The project of Partnership-Building Activity is a joint initiative of two organisations from city of Lublin that work with young people: The Grodzka Gate - NN Theatre and European Meeting Centre – Nowy Staw Foundation on creating effective partnership of their partner organizations in the field of European Voluntary Service.
The main aims of the project were: to get to know better partner organisations in order to establish future co-operation and project development amongst youth organisations that deal with EVS projects involving mainly young people with fewer opportunities and to provide them a space to facilitate them further co-operation.
Representatives of seven partner organisations within several days got to know each other and each other’s realities and needs. This helped them to establish stable future co-operation and strong partnership. Youth workers exchanged the experience and tried to work out common projects and tools of the future communication.

"Zlota 9" Academy
St. George Medal in 2011 for Fr. Ludwik Wisniewski
26th of March, Fr. Ludwik Wiśniewski, founder of the Akademia Złota 9, received St. George Medal at the Kraków's Cloth Hall in the presence of the President of Poland.
The journal called “Tygodnik Powszechny” gives Saint George Medal every year for "the struggle against evil and stubborn to build a good social life" to people who "have a particular sensitivity to the poverty, injustice and express the sensitivity of this act."

RCIE Lublin
The European Union knowledge competition in Lubartow
Under the slogan "For the common Europe" on 24 March 2011, in Gimnazjum No. 2 in Lubartów, a contest on European Union was held. Participants were students of classes I-III from schools from Lubartów disctrict.
The patronage over the competition was covered by Regional Center of European Information in Lublin. 29 students from five high schools attended the competition. The scholls were : School No 1 and No 2 Middle School Lubartów Firlej, Woli Żernickiej and Ostrów Lubelski. The competition took the form of a written test containing 40 questions, including the task in English.
After solving the tasks in the boardroom, a meeting was held with a representative of the Regional Center of European Information in Lublin. The meeting focused on: "The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union."
The competition ended with a awarding ceremony. Prizes and certificates were presented by Slawomir Zdunek - Director of Middle School No. 2 and Miss Anna Włochowicz, the person responsible for the competition.
